The Royal Albert Hall is preparing for the imminent launch of Verdi, its new Italian restaurant which will officially open on Tuesday 15 April.

Offering casual dining, delicious stone baked pizzas and authentic Italian flavours, the new restaurant replaces the Hall’s Café Consort. However, as as the Hall is a Grade 1 listed building, the design process was no mean feat as all of the planning was subject to rigorous sign-off from the English Heritage committee.

Building work is now well under way and we’ve donned our hard hats and dropped in to check how the work is progressing.

After stripping out the entire Café Consort interiors, the contractors, 8Build, are working on the duct work that supplies the cooling system for the new bar. The builders are also forming the structure of the new banquette seating that will run through all of the bays within the restaurant:

As we get closer to the opening date there will be many more exciting developments to see such as the installation of the pizza oven, arrival of the furniture and installation of the chandelier.
