The Teenage Cancer Trust concerts rolled into its 3rd day on 21 March 2013, as legendary band Primal Scream rocked the Royal Albert Hall.
Ahead of the evening’s gig, the band dropped in on the Teenage Cancer Trust music workshop session taking place in the Hall’s Elgar Room. The band met some of the patients and their friends before listening to a performance of the song the young group had been working on.
Hours later, Bobby Gillespie‘s band had the whole audience on their feet from the opening strum of Movin’ On Up, before tearing through favourites from their vast back-catalogue, from the psychedelic Trip Inside this House to the anthemic Loaded. Their set was flanked by 2 performances of their new single 2013.

It was their first appearance at the Hall, and for the band themselves it marked the first ever live gig with new bassist Simone Butler. Gillespie had asked the crowd at the start of the gig to help them “blow the roof off the place”, and aided by screaming sirens and an impressive light show, Primal Scream ensured that their Hall debut achieved just that.
Support came from very special guests Echo and the Bunnymen who didn’t disappoint as they performed a hit-laden set, which featured top-10 singles Nothing Ever Lasts Forever and The Killing Moon.
Teenage Cancer Trust
The headliners were once again presented on stage by series curator Noel Gallagher who was joined by Charlotte, a cancer patient in remission who shared her story of how the Teenage Cancer Trust supported her through the hardest time of her life following her diagnosis of a Ewing’s sarcoma tumour.
