Paul Weller has been announced as the final headliner for the 2013 Teenage Cancer Trust concert series at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Modfather‘ is a longstanding supporter of the Teenage Cancer Trust and his concert on 25 March 2013 will conclude this year’s series, which has been curated for the first time by Noel Gallagher. Support will come from acclaimed band and Sound of 2013 nominees Palma Violets.

Additional support acts for the series have also been announced – Kasabian will be joined by newcomers Dark Horses and Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys will open for Noel Gallagher. Full line-up information can be seen below.

The money raised at these concerts makes a massive difference to the lives of thousands of young people with cancer across the UK by through life changing care and support. As the only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting teenagers and young adults with cancer, Teenage Cancer Trust relies on the support of the general public to fund a range of services that aim to improve their quality of life and chances of survival.

Paul Weller at the Hall

Paul Weller has performed at the Hall on a number of occasions, including several appearances at Teenage Cancer Trust concerts.

Weller’s first band The Jam never performed at the Royal Albert Hall, so his first appearance came on 3 December 1984, where he performed with his band The Style Council.

He has returned as a headline solo artist a number of times since, including on 13 October 1992 as part of his World Tour; a pair of concerts in November 1993; 4 concerts in November 1994 with special guests Reef; 2 nights with guest support from Nerina Pallot in December 2001; 3 nights in June 2004, and 5 dates in May 2010 following the release of his album Wake Up The Nation.

Paul Weller has been a regular guest artist at the Teenage Cancer Trust concerts since they began at the Hall in 2000.

He appeared at the very first Teenage Cancer Trust concert on 27 November 2000, performing with The Who on their song So Sad About Us. He later headlined his own night on behalf of the charity on 9 February 2002, introducing a number of special guests including Robert Plant and Jimmy Page.

Weller made guest appearances at the Teenage Cancer Trust concerts with Jools Holland in 2004, and joined Noel Gallagher for 2 songs in 2007, captured on their live album The Dreams We Have As Children [Available to download on Amazon].

With support from Duffy, Weller headlined another Teenage Cancer Trust concert in 2008, and most recently performed alongside Kelly Jones and Roger Daltrey to open the 2012 series.
