Karl Wallinger‘s band World Party returned for their first UK dates in 10 years to celebrate the release of Arkeology - a massive 5 CD collection of 70 never-before-heard tracks.
The tour saw them perform at the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday 1 November, in a special show that saw Karl Wallinger explore the band’s vast back-catalogue.
Formed in 1986, World Party carried the torch for intelligent pop and outstanding live musicianship, amassing 5 critically acclaimed albums including the Grammy nominated Goodbye Jumbo, which was named the first ever Q Magazine ‘Album of the Year’. Their hits include Ship of Fools and She’s the One, later recorded by Robbie Williams.
After an excellent support set from Irish singer-songwriter Gemma Hayes, World Party created a memorable night for those in attendance.
In a show which attracted 4* reviews from The Arts Desk and The Guardian, one of the most respected songwriters of his generation and his tight-knit band delivered an outstanding set, relying both on the singles which hit charts all around the world, as well as some well-received rarities.
World Party’s Arkeology is available to buy now on Amazon.
