West Side Story

Leonard Bernstein‘s seminal score was inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and tells the story of the bitter battle between the Jets and the Sharks , featuring the much loved songs America, Somewhere and Tonight, with lyrics written by Stephen Sondheim.

Having taken Broadway and London’s West End by storm in the late-1950′s, the musical was adapted into a film by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins in 1961. The film received widespread critical acclaim and went on to win 10 Academy Awards.
